A land rich in culture and history and blessed with nature’s bounty.
Kenya’s tourist attractions are world famous – from big game safaris to beautiful sandy beaches, from deep sea fishing to mountain climbing. The annual wildebeest migration is the world’s greatest wildlife spectacle. Options are endless for the traveller – Golf Safaris, Balloon safaris, Camping safaris, Snorkelling, Bird watching, Crocodile farms, Horse Riding, amongst several others. The traveller will not be short of choices.
The Kenyan coastline is approximately 480km long and is fringed by white sandy beaches and secluded islands. On the southern part we have one of the most beautiful marine parks – Kisite Mpuguti Marine Park – which is also home to the Dolphins. This park is often referred to as a Garden under the Sea.
A short ferry crossing brings you to the historical city of Mombasa. It has a very busy port serving Eastern and Central Africa.
Travelling north, you can visit the Gede Ruins enroute to the coastal town of Malindi. A 10 minutes drive from Malindi is Watamu Beach which is world famous and is well known for Deep Sea Fishing, and hosting annual fishing competitions. Watamu also has a Marine Park.
Further north along the coast, is the beautiful island of Lamu. Lamu was a Swahili settlement in the 14th century but later influenced by Portuguese, Turkish and Omani Arabs. Later on the residents of Lamu developed their own culture which remains till today. The streets of Lamu are very narrow. There are no vehicles on the island and the main form of transport is donkeys.
